Wouldn't you all like to know.....?

Well, we set off from Bray at about 9.15 AM on Saturday morning. For once there was no queue at Bray lock and we were soon making good time up river.

We were passed on the inside by a ROBO who issued the usual old rubbish about wash & wake. We were in fact doing less than 8 kph and making very little wake, as confirmed by Alex who is a ROBOer himself. The hire boat in front of us WASmaking a wake, however.

It turned out, on reaching Boulters Lock, that this twat had phoned the lockie to complain!!

We assured the lockie that the chap was out of his mind and we carried on our journey.

We had the marine VHF on, tuned to channel 10. Soon reports reached our ears of a power failure at Temple Lock.

Undeterred we carried on through Cookham Lock and then passed Flashheart who had moored Tail Spin II in Cookham.

By the time we reached Temple Lock the power was back on, but we picked up the tailback at the next lock, Hurley.

We finally arrived at about 4.30 pm, and called up on VHF to be told where to moor. We were told that a visiting boat of the same size and type as ours would be rafting up alongside us. I enquired if that boat would be called "No Regrets". Yes, came the reply.. have you heard of it?

Sort of....

(More soon!)

"Carli" is a Birchwood 25 powered by the mighty Sea Panther diesel on shaft. She is based at Bray marina on the River Thames.

Alex duly smacked in our mighty ground posts and we made our lines secure.

Very shortly afterwards "No Regrets" arrived carrying Claire, John and their able sea-dog Simba.

Introductions were made, and we made "No Regrets" secure to "Carli".

Soon it was time to head off to the Marquee for a delicious Hog Roast, some superb beer (Rebellion) and to try to win the quiz. (Not quite!).

Much fun & merriment was had by all.

More soon.

Glad you all got there and had a great time.  Will not miss next years for sure.
Ramage, funny you should mention about Robo's and on the same stretch of river we suffered the same shouting to watch our wash that day. I followed a couple of boats from Bray Cruiser club heading to the meet and one bloke in a Robo had a go, so I shouted that i'm doing under the speed limit and there's hardly any wash.  Then his mate piped up shouting "OI". By now I'd had enough and started turning green ripping my shirt in the process and re iterated very firmly what i'd told his mate and that if we go any slower, I might as well drop anchor! Not sure though what the other boats in front suffered. Cookham was nice on Saturday, only slightly spoilt in the evening by a ditch crawler twat in front running his Honda generator on the aft deck from 6 pm till 8.30pm. Ok not too bad you may think. But this was under full load all the time!!

Tailspin II is Berthed at Bray Marina and so am I when i'm not at work! :-)
