Perusing the Boats and Outboards web site I came across an advertisment for a Relcraft, see

http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F152222

This looks remarkably similar to a Birchwood 25, the later version anyway. Is there any family connection?

Very similar until you get close.

The Relcraft looks similar inside too, but close ups reveal a less attractive shape, lacking the  B's perfect proportions.

Val Wyatt have one for sale, with photo's....

yes I can see the lack of perfect proportions -it s poor photo - and I was just looking at the latest photos posted in our log book and reckoning on just why we had those admiring crowds (ok a dad and three kids) around the boat as we moored at Brandon.

I see a few problems, the windows lack the 'brow' the B25 has, so leaks will be more likely (Mine are still leak free!) the roof has no gutter, it's a bit messy in detailing and lacks a forward hatch.

Good, but no cigar.

Mind you, I'll bet most of us would still wave from a distance!

As far as I can see, the lack of gutters would be a positive advantage!  All they do on Nimue is to trap water on the roof until you climb aboard -- whereupon it tips down your arms!

Yes, it's strange, but the lack of 'brows' on the early 26's give it a slightly-bottom heavy look.  And the lack of rails around the sides mean that it isn't quite as child-friendly as a B25.

Ah, and look at http://www.rightboat.com/advert.php/11892620/Relcraft-26.html -- that's a Relcraft 26 from 1985.
