http://www.aceboard.net/kator/smiley223.abgif Hi all ,The other day I was looking through some old sales lists and Brochures prior to binning and found a Penton hook sales brochure dated January 1996.
One of the boats listed was a B25 and its name was 'silverdale'( The name of the house where I was born by the way)
My wife and I spent a couple of hours looking over her but decided to buy 'DELTA' from the Windsor Race course Marina instead.
AND NOW AT LAST my question, Has anybody seen or heard of 'Silverdale' before or after 1996 ???? It would be nice to know what happened to her.

I'm sure we have seen that name along the Thames...

Hi No regrets, thankyou for your reply, I maybe confused, and bearing in mind my wife and I looked at probably 10 or 11 Birchwood B25's  in 1995 and 1996, along the Thames, Bristol, Suffolk and the Midlands. what we remembered most about 'Silverdale'
Was that she was powered by a Bedford truck engine, and the engine box, took up half of the floor space of the wheelhouse.
A very unusual set up indeed !!!!

Diesel powered then?

"Carli" is a Birchwood 25 powered by the mighty Sea Panther diesel on shaft. She is based at Bray marina on the River Thames.

Hi Ramage, yes I think it was a Bedford/Opel straight 6 Diesal Donker-----Proper job!!! I suppose due to the height and length of the lump the engine cover box was 'huge' and would have made a very nice dinning table for six!!! I have got no idea what sort of gearbox it was connected to, just can't remember. It's an age thing you know !!
Only two days to go and we are off again in Delta for another weeks cruising the Broads whoopee!!

A lot of those were Petrol, as it was quite popular in the old days, and the Cresta etc had a 6 cyl too.

Very heavy though...smile/eek.gif

Amazing choice for a replacement engine, certainly a unique boat!

I would LOVE to see the pictures of this one!

It was reowned as a big bastard engine even in the 70's....

The huge Cresta even used to understeer like a Tesco trolley with that one fitted!

A B25 would remain very stable with one of those down in it's bowels, I would imagine
