Although I have an 850 Watt four stroke generator which is ideal for many small power tools, it is of no use for my pressure washer which is rated at 1750 watts. So looking on ebay I was able to buy a brand new, still in the box, a 2.5KW four stroke generator for £65. On top of this was a £15 handling charge and I decided to collect from Debenham near Ipswich as it would be cheaper than their carriage charges. The point of this is that there are some bargains out there at present.

Watch it's not a Chinese one, or Chinese Honda copy!

They last as little as a few hours, and cost a bomb to fix  :/

I understand your concern and sincerely hope that problems are not just around the corner. To be fair the quality of the generator looks OK, and if the engineering quality is anything like the model aircraft engines that I am more familiar with, then hopefully all will be well. I understand that Mercury and Mariner outboard engines are now manufactured in this general area of the world, so perhaps there is hope yet. Still time will tell.

To be on the safe side, if it is such a beast, change the oil for decent stuff, check it for any possible poor assembly issues, like chafed wires, loose bolts etc, and don't load it up much.

Gentle use may double it's life!  The genny experts reckon some make it, while a lot die for no apparent reason.

We sell Scooters, so have seen all sorts
