Hi April Rose, I have been led to believe that most of the Marinised watermotor Ford 1600 crossflow engines were industrial pump engines.
The vehicle application was (I think) the Ford Cortina mark 2 series.
My replacement head came from a mk2 1600E
Anyway I hope this info is of help to you and I wait with baited breath for other members to
confirm or deny  some or all of it.

Regards

Seadog

Thanks 'Seadog' that gets me started with the sourcing of spares for the top end at least, because with an elderly engine I should also like to get hold of such items as Oil & fuel pumps and a starter motor.

By the way how did you get on with matching your Gelcoat repair.

Hi April Rose, thankyou for your reply.
First Things first ,I have only just found your message in private messages which came in, in the middle of my holiday in Scotland.
Thankyou for your Gel-coat tip!!
As far as spares are concerned for your Watermotor engine, Sheriden Marine stock most parts, (gold plated prices though.)
The original starter motor
was a three hole Lucas M35g or M35j type.
You can use any 4.5" two hole starter of that era but you may have to change the pinion as there were 9 or 10 tooth pinions fitted.
I missed the chance of a recon starter at a local car boot sale a couple of weeks ago for a £5.00 !! The man could not change a £20 note, so I went off to get some change and when I got back he had sold it!!!!!!
As for pumps, gasket sets and ignition parts try  "Wilco" car Parts, my local branches are very helpful and will source and order parts as I require them.
Well thats it for now
