When I was idly doing some drawings of Nimue (like the one in the canopy thread), I wondered what colour to use and eventually decided upon C20 M18 Y18. Doesn't Dulux (or one of the big names) have a colour matching system? You take something along to them (I wonder what you could take?) and they stick it in a light cabinet and determine that it's C20 M18 Y18 or whatever? Or maybe could you ask to borrow some colour swatches and hold the up alongside your hull? | |||

Hi Brianj, are you sitting comfortably then I will begin. It all started last wednesday when I decided to go away in the boat ,just for a couple of days fishing on my own, as her indoors was staying with my daughter who has just had a little girl.(WHOOPEE) Anyway off I went full of the joys of something and cruised down to the Swan Inn at Horning The Swan serves really good ale, including my favourite 'Abbots' and the Perch fishing is fantastic at this time. I forgot to mention that after two weeks of fantastic weather Wednesday was 'B' awful, blowing a hooley and raining Yuk!!!!! Back to the Plot, bearing in mind I had no crew I managed to moor well, Pretty dam good I thought. I was moored right outside the pub but I really wanted to get on the parish moorings because I can plug into the electric, but at this time there was not a space to be had !! Half an hour went by and a boat left the Parish mooring so I went for it. I quickly started the engine untied the ropes and pushed off! I had calculated and allowed for the wind but unfortunately forgot the 4 knot tide running, which pushed me straight into the arse end of a tatty old Hire Cruiser which had two corner buffers covered with steel strips ouch!! Not having a crew to fend off I could do nothing to stop what occured next. Crunch Bang Wallop and then I was clear. I then went into the space further up which I had spotted and moored up without a hitch, with only a couple of feet to spare . When I looked to see what damage I had sustained I nearly cried, the metal strake had ripped a 5" gash through the gel/coat right down to the inner matting AAAAA'GH **@@!XX@ I criedThe hire boat by the way had no damage what so ever apart from my gelcoat hanging on the bit of steel.(rubber fenders covered in steel strips?? only hire boats would have these!!!) I was so upset I cast off and came home and proceeded to fill and rub down the damage. I have done an invisible mend, except for the final gel/coat colour which brings us back to my original question!!!!Phew!! I bet you wish you had not asked me now!! HA! HA! I still have not been fishing so anybody out there want 4 pints of maggots and a great big seven quids worth pot of worms!!!! free to a good home!!
