Please tell us some details of your boat ie Name, Model, type & make of engine, shaft or outdrive, boat number and date built (should be on a plate in the engine room).

This will help build a picture of the variations there are out on our waterways.

Boat number 552 built in April 1978.

'No Regrets' is a Birchwood 25 MkII numbered 705, and fitted out in June 1978.

She has the original 1.6 litre Sea Tiger (Petrol) with J type box, and shaft.

I have the original booklets from Ford, including the service book, and J type gearbox manual!

'No Regrets' is now a beautiful Broom 30, berthed in Bray, on the River Thames. I used to own a Birchwood, honest!

St Kitts is a Birchwood 25 powered by a Volvo AQ105 (2lt petrol) driving through a Volvo AQ100A leg that I bought last year. Lovely condition inside but in need of a good clean and polish outside. All in this years to do list.

They seem very well built, on the whole don't they?

All the used ones I looked at were either tidy, or could be made very  respectable with very little work.
Cracking is bettter than some other brands, Osmosis is not a scary issue like Freemans, for example and the interiors, whilst I concede Freemans may have an edge here, are tough as old boots.

Trevera is one of the Interceptor models but was far from looked after when I got hold of her. No plate to tell me much about her so hoping to find out more here, but she does have a Volvo Penta petrol engine (with problems) and is undergoing a major refit (please read, re-build) due to leaky almost everything and being left with loads of rain water inside for too long.

Tristan is a 1978 Birchwood 25, she was named after the previous owners grandson but before that was owned by another YBW forum member and called Carli.  We are her third owner in the last 25 years.  The interior was not fitted by the factory but has followed almost the exact same layout.  Originally she had a ford watermota petrol crossflow which after 30 odd years I manage to blow to pieces after a tad of memory loss having closed the the raw water cooling valve. (always a good idea to open it again lol).  Now she is on a Nani 4.150 39/40 hp Diesel on a Enfield Stern drive and we are very happy with it. Last season we replaced the morse control, engine, fuel lines and added a new fuel gauge which was the only gauge missing from the Nani control panel that I felt we should add.

Rumor has it (according to my wife) that I only smile when the boat is in the water.

Tailspin II is a Birchwood 25 with a hull stamp date of 25-10-76. Will hunt the plate out. Almost sold to me under the pretense that it was a 1981 boat. All the documentation states 81!
It is fitted with the standard Ford 1600cc Crossflow engine but marinised by CT Marine , coupled to a Hurth HBW gearbox.
Its had shed loads of cash spent on it over the years and not just by me thank god!! Items such as a new Stainless fuel tank, cockpit re-lining etc etc. Where does it end!
She has the factory fit out which was one reason I bought the boat as its in Excellent condition having not suffered wear and tear and over varnishing.

Tailspin II is Berthed at Bray Marina and so am I when i'm not at work! :-)

My boat is called Delta, the plate states that she was built in May 1979(the plate is above the door way in the heads).
She is the Excutive model and has a 6 berth layout. The power unit is a Ford 1600 crossflow watermotor sea tiger engine and runs with a "J" type gearbox  with standard shaft drive.  Delta has all mod cons, full cooker( cut the sink in half and made a proper cooker housing lined with aluminium)fridge, shower, hot and cold water system. I fitted a ring main with consumer unit and battery chaging system
Last year I fitted a chlorifier and remmoved the origanal on demand boiler for the BSS. Not a good move, I  now have to run the engine or plug into the mains shore power for the immersion to work !!! Just a  clean and tidy craft all round ( puff my chest out!!!)

As you say, Delta sounds like a clean and tidy craft!  We need to see some piccies of that sink & cooker arangement.

So you removed the on-demand boiler for the BSS?  Our guy mentioned that we really needed a taller ventilation stack above it (Yeah, right. Something to hold on to as you're going from cockpit to bow!) but he didn't fail us for it.

Hi Brian, many thanks for your tip on accessing photobucket.
I am at my sons at the moment down in Basingstoke/Chineham,but
as soon as I get home I will post some photo's of Delta and
a good shot of the modified cooker arrangement.
It was long and tricky job, but now ive done it once the next one would be a piece of cake!!!!.
You will see in the picture how I  covered up all the pipe holes in the bulkhead which fed the waterheater, with a  nice little shelf and fitted a light under it to illuminate the cooker.
talk to you again soon

That's really nice.  It fits in really well.  Very smart indeed.  Ooh! and you seem to have full-height sliding panels behind the sink/cooker area.  Ours are only about half that height -- which makes it tricky to get stuff in and out.

Hmmm... I'm going to have to have a look at ours to see what I can do to make those over-sink cupboards bigger.

Thanks for posting the piccies.

Sophie Alice is an B25 executive, number 81004. Built in April 1981. A friend in the marina has 81007. Once we trace 005 and 006 we will have the set!

Sophie Alice is powered by the Ford Sea Tiger (1600 crossflow) with J type gearbox and shaft drive. In the 2 years I have had her I have increased the number of domestic batteries to 2 and put all 3 together in the engine bay. Rewired the domestic side of the wiring and put car type fuse boxes plus main thermal cut outs. Added bilge pumps as there were non. Replaced all the old water system (hoses, pump, accumulator, expansion bottle and blow off valve) except for the calorifier. Replaced the shower pump, the original was pathetic. Added a holding tank, originally it just pumped out overboard! The last thing I fitted was a fridge so I could keep the beer cool.

Now I think the time has come to use her.
