Hello! Anybody here?

Well, now we have a place to talk about that style icon of the 1970s, the Birchwood 25. I guess many of the boats out there are, like mine, pre-loved. (Sadly, there are even some "No longer loved"  Birchwood 25s on the Thames).

A special welcome to Birchwoods who cruise other waterways too.

Thanks to "No Regrets" for setting this up, and also to "Flashheart" for providing the spark!

Hi Paul!

I will rejoin as 'No Regrets' as soon as the admin work is finished...

I need to adjust colours to something more attractive, create a proper logo for the header, and add more sections and forums too!

Give me a few days, and it'll be looking far more tasty, and thats a promise!

Regards, John

No problem, its great to have somewhere to discuss stuff at last.

Got quite alot of old info and pictures to upload. Including the original test reports from the seventies if its of any use.  Some nice seventies pictures in there too!!

Tailspin II is Berthed at Bray Marina and so am I when i'm not at work! :-)

Good to see this at long last, thanks John for bringing it to life.

Tristan should be back in the water next week, with the blue sky and sun shining this morning I am now desperate to get back on the water.  I have some test reports etc that I will scan and hope that more history and stories about what I also consider a classic 70's boat will be forthcoming.

I admit to feeling a little like a Birchwood Anorak lol and intend growing into a full blown anorak now we have somewhere to play

Great to be here

Nick

Hello to all Birchwood Owners and pleased to find somewhere that like minded owners and boaters can get together. I am sure that there is a wealth of information that can be tapped into. Anybody here from the midlands?

Just to prove that we're not just confined to the Thames, I am near Spalding (South Lincolnshire) and boat will be based here. So where is everyone else ?

Now all we need to do is get any thames dwelling Birchwoods moored at the same Marina!  Bray has a good turnout but more would annoy the most mild mannered Freeman owner out there

I have seen a few of the cathedral hulled Birchwoods on the Thames.
Sadly, I do not have any information on them. However, the Birchwood Intercepter Junior 22 (phew, what a long name!) which is the smaller version of the Birchwood 25 was bought out in 1970 and they stopped making them in 1980 (about 1000 built).

Therefore I think it is reasonable to assume the cathedral hulled 22 was likely to be pre 1970.

We have one Birchwood 33 owner and now a 22 owner. You are both very welcome, and add a bit of variety!

The problems of maintaining older boats apply to us all... dont forget to read the technical pages.
